It was announced today that Spanish defender Ubay Luzardo has joined Melbourne Victory on loan from Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC until the end of the season. Luzardo, 28, who has been on trial with Melbourne for the past two weeks adds some much needed depth and experience to Victory’s defence.

Jim Magilton was happy to have Luzardo at the Club saying “Ubay is a big, strong boy, who moves well for a player of his size. He’s done everything right in his short time with the club and will provide more stability to our defence and also give us some flexibility with the personnel we currently have.”

In other news, captain Adrian Leijer and fellow defenders Matthew Foschini and Petar Franjic have all signed new contracts. Leijer and Foschini both penned new two-year deals while Franjic extended his contract for one more year.
