Harry Kewell and Carlos Hernandez have been called up for Australia and Costa Rica respectively, for matches in November. Australia face Oman on the 11th and Thailand on the 15th in crucial World Cup Qualifiers. Australia coach Holger Osieck says he knows what Kewell can bring to the team but that he will need to prove himself if he’s to play:

There’s no guarantee at all, I’m pretty much performance-related.

I ask a lot more of them (Kewell & Brett Emerton) other than they have produced so far. But knowing their value and what they can bring to the team I invited them.

Costa Rica will play two International friendlies this month – Panama on the 11th and Spain on the 15th. The call up of Hernandez follows his involvement in last months friendly against Brazil.

Both Kewell and Hernandez will miss Melbourne Victory’s clash with Central Coast on November 12.
